Arrival at Venue and Ceremony
Well nearly there, all the guests are arriving, hopefully the Groom has arrived and I have the opportunity to take some reportage style images of everyone greeting each other. I am also looking to get some of the important images such as Groom with Best Man, Groom with Parents, ushers, Brides Maids when they arrive (if they are ahead of the Bride) Of course I am also keen to get into the ceremony room or Church before the guests start to fill it up to get lots of those details shots.
I always chat to the official conducting the ceremony whether it be at a Religious location or at any other place to politely ask what their rules are regarding photography during the ceremony. The rules are as varied as there are locations.
Regardless of the photographic freedom I am allowed, I always show respect for the ceremony itself and discreetly take photographs at strategic pauses or events, such as exchanging rings for instance.
If I can physically switch between front and back of the location to vary my images and provide a more complete picture to the Bride and Groom then I always try to achieve this.
A sound knowledge of the ceremony and the moments that are most likely to create emotion is something built on experience for the wedding photographer and ensures that the camera is ready at the right time in the right location.
Enjoy the images.
